Thought of the Day 2010 #4 - Skype

If you haven't tried Skype yet, what's stopping you?? I've only had good
experiences with it. Video calls from as far as Spain is just as clear
as my friend's video calls from Minneapolis. The sound quality is
excellent, too. So, computer to computer calls with video...you're
wondering what does it cost to use?? NOTHING!! Seriously, you've gotta
try it.

Thought of the Day #274 - How Is Yawning Related to Smartphones?

Both are suggestively done. Sit with other people checking email/news or
other content and suddenly your fingers get twitchy and YOU MUST check
out your own phone...just like being near a yawner. It's soooo
contagious!

Thought of the Day #214 - Painter 11

Corel Painter 11 - an amazing digital art program that I used fairly often several years ago, but with which just recently become reacquainted.

While I was putzing around, I came across a tutorial on how to clone-paint photos. While I don't think this is a masterpiece by any stretch, it did turn out pretty good for 15 minutes of work or so:

The newest version -- 11, has so many more tricks than the version I used almost a decade ago. Having a couple of gigs of RAM has made it slick, too. No more paint - wait - paint - wait. Strokes are instantaneous unless you're using a large brush.

Sooo, sooo cool and I've only just started to rediscover the program. if you have any interest at all in digital art, I heartily recommend it.

Thought of the Day #188 - Not Smart Enough

I love Smart Phones. But, they're not good for browsing everything
online. My version? for instance, cannot use flash and is very limited
at Java. Some day they'll do all that a PC can do...just not yet(or
more likely, just not mine...)

Thought of the Day #163 - Wireless Thieves

Have you ever stolen an internet connection? You know...you're in a strange place, need to check something online and you randomly find an unsecured wifi network? And you connect to it?? You know you have if you have a laptop. Admit it!

I understand that it's illegal in some places, but I'm starting to think with the extent of broadband availability throughout the country that soon we will all have free wifi unsecured networks. (Well, unless the greedy bastids (you know who you are) decide that free anything is wrong...'cuz they could make money off of you!)

If I could feel safe and not worry about greedy hackin' bastids, I would open up my connection to the general public. I use my broadband connection for work and whatnot, but I rarely use up all bandwidth that's available. If I could have ~priority~ to the bandwidth and grant free access to non-hacker types, I would. Would you??
