Spring is coming!
A couple of days ago -- robins. Five of them in the yard on a rather cold day. We don't typically see them until late February or March.
Secondly...new lambs being born in the back 40. Sure, they always seem to show up at this time of year, but the renewal of life grants a little bit of hope for the warmth of Spring, doesn't it? These little desert painted sheep twins were born yesterday. They're still covered with ewwwygewwygoo, but they look pretty spry despite the 10 degree weather.

Animal Crackers
Animal crackers in my soup
Monkeys and rabbits loop the loop
Gosh oh gee but I have fun
Swallowing animals one by one
I am here, taking a break from work and munching on a few animal crackers...ok, they're cookies really, and there's no soup involved.
I got to thinkin' that most of the animals in my selection are on the endangered species or threatened species list. If I were in charge (like that would ever happen!), I would make the most endangered animal crackers be super rare. You know, one out of a thousand cookies or something. I think it would send a message to the kids who eat 'em, that the particularly rare animal is rare in the wild, too.

As promised...
The bottom photo is a of the elusive baby llama. It's really not a "baby", but more a "yearling". Contrary to popular opinion, we didn't get spit on! From all that I've read on the creatures, they usually only spit at each other or if someone bottle fed a cria (baby llama), that one grown up may spit at you thinkin' you're just part of the family.
I haven't heard any of the humming communication that they do, but hope to soon.

LlamaDammaDingDong!
We're getting llamas! Five llamas will be comin' to our farmy yard tonight to take up permanent residence. We got a great deal on the curious beasts o' burden when buying some new painted desert sheep. Apparently they wanted out of their llama ownership. Their loss is our gain! Luckily llamas work well with sheep, so we're fortifying the fences 'round the farm and planning for a freakin' petting zoo in our backyard. Not really, but I'm betting the neighbor kids will be wanting to stop by more often. Gosh, I hope the new yard guests like tomatoes. We've got a lot of those to offer! Pictures of the new tenants will be posted soon.

Weather Report
Yesterday was beautiful. 75 degrees. Sunny. A little windy, but just gorgeous, gorgeous.
Today, it’s about 35ish and SNOWING. And the snow is sticking. *pout* Get me off this weather rollercoaster!
In other news, I have to share a picture of our newest little lamb on our farm. I call him PandaLamb, for obvious reasons. Isn’t it the cutest thang?!Labels: animals
